Investing in Discovery

This multinational study is led by Dr. Silvia Stacchiotti at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT) in Milan, Italy, in collaboration with Professor Robin Jones at The Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) and Paul Huang, PhD, at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), both in London.

Clinical and translational research aims:

• Gather data on the clinical presentation, natural history, and treatment outcomes in people with EHE
• Identify cytokine and hormone biomarkers and build patient-derived preclinical models that will enable validation of new therapeutic targets

Partners in Science

The EHE Foundation, together with advocacy partners at EHE Rare Cancer Charity UK and EHE ITALIA Associazione Non Solo Laura ODV, has invested in this global discovery initiative that can improve our understanding of EHE biology and natural history, laying a solid foundation for improved treatments and better outcomes for patients.

Outcomes & Progress

Key goals include description of demographics, clinical presentation, tumor-related symptoms and pain, prognostic factors, radiological features, and treatment response by RECIST 1.1 criteria.

The full title of this study is "The Evaluation of Cytokines and Hormones as Biomarkers for Epithelioid Haemangioendothelioma and Generation of Patient-derived Preclinical Models to Assess the Activity of Anticancer Agents and Validate Novel Therapeutic Targets."
