Experts' Consensus on EHE
The Experts’ Consensus Paper on the Management of EHE is an essential resource that supports informed care planning and treatment decisions for people with EHE, caregivers, and clinicians.
In December 2020, more than 80 sarcoma experts from leading medical institutions around the world convened under the guidance of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), joined by patient advocates including the EHE Foundation, to reach consensus on evidence-based best practices for the management of EHE. The meeting included multidisciplinary specialists across medical, surgical, and radiation oncology, as well as pathology and radiology.
As a result, the first publication of expert guidance for managing EHE was published in early 2021. The paper reflects evidence available prior to the consensus meeting and experts’ agreement on EHE management across various clinical scenarios. Additionally, the experts address the absence of standardized approaches to diagnosis, surveillance, and treatment with an acknowledgment of further improvements.
This foundational resource is available in multiple formats and languages. The original publication is most appropriate for care providers; a patient-friendly version has been provided and translated to build knowledge and understanding using a lay language format.
